2 You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. 3 And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. - 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 

Paul, a spiritual father, writing to his spiritual children, says that Christ is writing His letter on their hearts and Paul has the amazing privilege to deliver it.  As fathers, husbands and men we also have the same opportunity as we model the gospel for those we lead. They see the gospel in us by way that we talk to them, the way we talk about others, and the way we interact with those around us.

Paul would often use an amanuensis (a-man-u-en-sis) who would write the letter as he would dictate what to say. This is a great picture of what it looks like when we are leading others or parenting our children. Let’s remember that we write the glory of the gospel through our words and actions on the hearts of those we lead and love.  God is using us as an amanuensis to deliver his message to those around us.  Every day you are writing a letter from Christ on the tablet of the human heart to be read by all.
