3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

I am so thankful that we have a Heavenly Father that extends mercy and grace towards us because He is full of compassion. He meets us amid our afflictions and provides for us a picture of what a compassionate father looks like.

I’m reminded repeatedly of the many times He has done just that in my own life. The times where He met me in a space where I needed to be met. The times where I needed to find clarity in a chaotic situation. The times I needed restoring from brokenness. This is what He does for us! 

It’s exactly what we are called to do for our own children. We must be willing to emulate the compassionate love of our father to our children. We must remember how He redeemed and restored us in those specific spaces in our life and extend that same compassion towards our very own, as well as those we encounter every day. 

We have a mandate upon our lives. This mandate as a child of God is the calling to be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy and that’s exactly what he is attempting to do to your family. We, as the shepherds of our family and those we lead, have the privilege to present the hope, love, peace, and joy that is found in Christ alone. 

Who can you reach out to who may not know Christ that could benefit from the comfort He can bring? Make the call or connection today to share this hope with them.
