for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7

I am reminded today of the identity we have as believers in Jesus. When we look at this simple and short verse, we are encouraged to know that God through His power has not given us a spirit of timidity or fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

As husbands, fathers, and leaders we must understand our biblical role. We must not lead in fear, but rather hold fast to the authority that He has given us. That authority is not to be used selfishly, but walked out in humility as we shepherd our spouse, children and others. 

We do not have to be fearful of what He has asked of us because He will equip us. The scriptures proclaim the truth that He gives us power, love, and self-control. All of these together can be used to walk out the tasks that are set before us. 

May we emulate what this looks like in the spaces He has entrusted us to invest in and influence. May we love well and do so with self-control and wisdom.

Parenting and leading can be difficult but so rewarding. Walk in your mandate. Love well in your calling. Hold fast to the Spirit’s leading.

The task may seem daunting, but He equips you for whatever He call you to.
