21 Day jumpstart

3 By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; 4 by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, 6 for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. - Proverbs 24:3-6

Sitting in our houses daily, we may overlook this, but we should be thankful for the wisdom of the ones who built them. Based on the fact they still stand, we can be fairly confident in the knowledge of those who understood how to build it so the structure is solid and withstands the storms. I know I’m referring to the physical houses we live in, but the same can be said of the spiritual values of each of our individual homes.  

When we as husbands, fathers and men shepherd and lead, we must rest in the wisdom that we find in our loving Creator. We must hold fast to the understanding that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). We must be confident in His goodness, and we can be assured in the truth that He blesses the lives of those who strive to honor Him. 

Let’s be honest, storms are going to come. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, so we must continually seek wisdom through our understanding of who God is and what He does. Knowing and trusting in this truth is what gives us discernment and helps us to make wise choices. Make every effort to surround yourself with others who will consistently spur you on in your faith journey. We are reminded in Proverbs 27:17 “that iron sharpen iron as one man sharpens another.” Gentlemen, we need each other. We need community. Don’t isolate! Continue to seek wisdom through His Word and then use that wisdom to shepherd the souls of your spouse, children and those you lead. 

Who can you rely on to be there for you? 

If you can’t think of a person, then this leaves open the opportunity to be that for someone else.
